University of Melbourne STEM EDGE Program Excursion

On Thursday, 10th October, a group of twenty Year 7 and 8 girls from both Blair Street and Dimboola attended the University of Melbourne’s new STEM EDGE (Excellence in Diversity through Gender Equity) program. The program aims to engage female students during the early years of high school by building their confidence through hands-on laboratory work and problem-solving workshops.

The Year 7 students spent the day at the Science Gallery, participating in an interactive tour SCI-FI exhibition. They had the chance to experience the university campus.

The Year 8 students took part in a workshop on producing electricity using solar panels. The students had a great time visiting the Science Gallery, gained valuable experience working in a science lab and enjoyed the delicious lunch provided by the university.

Thanks to everyone for their assistance during the excursion.
