Old Melbourne Gaol Excursion

On Friday 31 May our English Language Centre students attended an excursion to Old Melbourne Gaol, City Watch house and State Library.

The students at the ELC have been studying the court hierarchy this term and we chose to visit the OMG and State Library before sitting their unit exam.  They thoroughly enjoyed the OMG tour and watch house experience, where they were “charged” for offences such as theft and antisocial behaviour.

Furthermore, the students were mesmerised by the beauty of the Dome inside the State Library and thoroughly enjoyed reading through the current exhibition.

Last Friday, I had a great excursion with my classmates and my teachers. We went to the Old Melbourne Gaol, and the State Library of Victoria. It was my first time going there. These places have ancient and grand architecture. Many interesting things surprised me and my classmates. I have gained more knowledge in Australian history and had a very interesting experience with my class. I think these are great places to visit for tourists when they come to Australia – Chloe Phan

An insightful learning experience that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
