Cat in the Hat Rap Battle
“It’s fun to have fun but you have to know how….”
Congratulations to Recardos Hanna of 9C on winning the Blair St, Year 9 ‘Cat in the Hat’ rap competition. Entrants were judged on their accuracy, expression and rhythm when rapping the famous poem to a hip hop beat before an audience of their peers. When asked why he took out the coveted 100 Blair Bucks prize, Recardos reflected: “You have to develop your skills. You need practice, determination and you have to listen. At first I was mumbling, stuttering and mispronouncing my words. But you have to be confident! You have to practice. Don’t be afraid to stop and find the beat. It’s not as easy as you think but when you practice, it gets easy. And that’s how you win.” Wise words from a winner. I think we’d all benefit from adopting an attitude like this towards the goals we set for ourselves.
